Apply Job ID 16608351 Date posted 02/03/2025This is a rewarding position where the respiratory therapist will educate nurses on the care of our higher skilled clients. The COFK respiratory therapy curriculum with training on relevant equipment utilized in the home care setting provides the safest, quality care in our industry. Training is provided by a respiratory therapist in several high-tech skill labs throughout the organization. The respiratory therapist will instruct nurses on the use of current ventilators, equipment, and all current modalities of respiratory therapy applied in the homecare setting. The RT will occasionally evaluate supplies in the home of the client to confirm that all necessary supplies are present for the safety of our high-tech cases. The role requires fluidity, travel, and the ability to work independently.

- Provides respiratory therapy services by educating nurses, and educating the home care community being serviced.
- Prepares nursing personnel by providing training classes, mentoring, and clinical evaluations in the home.
- Observes the participant’s performance, and coordinates nursing orientation to respiratory care
- The respiratory therapist will educate nurses and isolate appropriateness for nurses on high tech cases.
- Provide client specific training on new cases with equipment that is unfamiliar to nursing staff
- Provide ventilator clinics to health care providers to maintain current education on state-of-the-art equipment utilized in the home care setting
- Remain current in all modalities of respiratory care provided in the home care setting
- Determines requirements for treatment, precautions to be taken, medication dosages, and administration routes (compatible with physicians' orders)
- Informs clients and caregivers of current conditions and provides documentation with appropriate disease management techniques, such as breathing exercises, prescribed respiratory medications, respiratory equipment, and treatment modalities
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications
- Documents client care services by charting inpatient and clinical records
- Participates in the discharge process by attending discharge planning meetings, home preparation, attendance at discharge, and follow-up visits when available
- Performs annual respiratory competencies for clinical staff
- On-call for nursing and client support

- RRT associate degree required, bachelor’s degree preferred
- Must have two years of respiratory therapist experience
- DME and pediatric experience
Special Requirements:
- Valid state respiratory therapy license is required in the state of treatment such as Florida, New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania
- Must have excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
Physical Requirements:
- Transport equipment includes small ventilators and miscellaneous respiratory teaching supplies.
- Ability to regularly sit, stand, bend, walk, reach, and lift with hands and arms.

Travel:
- Travel is common and availability must be fluid
- Some out-of-the-area travel is expected.
